The default winding rule for rendering Type 1 and TrueType characters is non-zero, but this can be controlled by this parameter.
This parameter can be set to the name /eofill, which corrects font-filling problems for some noncompliant fonts (that assume even-odd winding), and does not affect compliant fonts. The improvements in dropout control mean that there will not be any gaps in the contours of small characters.
The name /fill denotes the standard default: the non-zero winding rule.
This parameter is acted upon when caching characters, i.e., typically when they are first seen within a job.
Default: /fill.
