Instructions for SDFE 4.11
The following steps should be followed to demonstrate VDP on Meteor using the MeteorSim, so no hardware is required.
Firstly, install the MeteorUIPlugin and check it works, there are instructions for this in the published documentation:
https://documentation.globalgraphics.com/sdfe/getting-started-meteor-inkjet
Once this is shown to be working and the Meteor sim files have been checked, more on to setting up a VDP system.
-
Load the attached .sdc file
This is the same as the ‘Meteor - KCMY.sdc’ example, but Meteor_Output_Plugin.json has the “OutputMode” change to “MIXED”. -
Make sure all the queues are empty
This will make it easier to find the job over OPC. -
Load an example VDP job, the one attached to this page is a good example
-
Enable External OPC Control
-
Use UA Expert and locate the job
If all the queues were empty there will be a single job GUID in the AllJobs node -
Set the JobTag to METEOR_MIXED_MODE
This informs SPC (and therefore HarelquinDirect) that this job is VDP -
Disable External OPC Control
-
Move the job to the Print Queue
-
Start the Print Run
-
Once the run is finished you’ll see an ‘Waiting for press to complete’ dialog, when using the MeteorSim mode press ‘Abort Printing’
-
Look in the simfiles folder (C:\SimFiles), and you see the output.
MeteorSimPre0-001.sim - the static data (CMY)
MeteorSimxxxx.sim - the variable data for each page
