This page applies to Harlequin v13.1r0 and later; both Harlequin Core and Harlequin MultiRIP.
The Harlequin RIP supports, or has supported at some time, the following raster formats.
-
N x 1 and N x 8 band-interleaved output.
-
N x 1 and N x 8 frame-interleaved output.
Except as noted, all versions of the Harlequin RIP support the following formats:
-
Single-bit (halftone) rasters, including those produced as a result of automatically separating a color job
-
8-bit grayscale rasters, including those produced as a result of automatically separating a color job
-
24-bit Red – Green – Blue rasters, pixel interleaved (8-bits per component), with the color components in any order
-
32-bit Cyan – Magenta – Yellow – Black, pixel interleaved (8-bits per component), with the color components in any order
-
3 x 1 bit Red – Green – Blue band interleaved rasters, with the color components in any order
-
4 x 1 bit Cyan – Magenta – yellow – Black band interleaved rasters with the color components in any order
-
3 x 8 bit Red – Green – Blue band interleaved rasters, with the color components in any order
-
4 x 8 bit Cyan – Magenta – Yellow – Black band interleaved rasters with the color components in any order
-
8-bit run-length encoded data. The layout of the rasters produced is beyond the scope of this book, but is dealt with in detail in [SWRLE]. It is turned on using the
RunLengthkey in the page device -
10-bit run-length encoded data. This, too, is documented in [SWRLE].
Other combinations require new code to be added to the Harlequin RIP, but could be added by arrangement. For example 4 x 4 bits of band interleaved Cyan – Magenta – Yellow – Black is feasible with additional programming.
