You can implement time‐based communication protocols with an input plugin. The RIP maintains timing information in the IPPluginContext (GenericPluginContext ) structure to which a pointer is passed with each selector call.
Note: Though every channel and channel class is given processor time at frequent intervals, operations requiring data to be retrieved within a certain time need separate interrupt routines to guarantee service at the required point.
