RIP Memory Indicator
The top right of the main view shows whether the local machine has enough available memory for cost estimation. The indicator is functionally similar to the RIP Memory Indicator in Smart Print Controller. Refer to the Status Area documentation in Smart Print Controller for more detail.
NOTE: When Smart Job Cost Estimator is opened in Integrated Mode, the RIP Memory Indicator in Smart Print Controller is hidden because the Smart Job Cost Estimator indicator takes precedence.
Job queue
Jobs can be imported by dragging PDFs from File Explorer onto the queue, or by using the Import jobs... button in the bottom left. Each queue entry contains:
-
The job's thumbnail
-
The name of the job
-
The number of copies the job should be estimated for
-
A button to open the Cost report dialog
-
A status indicator
-
A button to remove the job from the job queue
A green tick represents that this job has successfully estimated for all estimations.
A spinning progress bar means the job is currently being estimated.
A red X represents that one or more estimations have failed.
Job preview
Selecting a job shows more detail in the Job preview pane on the right. The pane displays a larger thumbnail, the page dimensions, the page count, and the copy count used for estimation.
Changing the copy count updates the job cost automatically. You do not need to recalculate manually.
Media list
The top left of the Cost report dialog lists the compatible Smart Media that can be used for the estimate. Select one or more media, then click Calculate to estimate the job for each selected media.
Up to six media can be selected at once. The Calculate button is disabled if more than six are selected.
Job cost reports
Each completed estimate appears as a report tile on the right-hand side of the Cost report dialog. Select a tile to show the ink cost breakdown. The chart can be hovered over to reveal exact percentages.
A full report can be created for all estimation results by clicking Export report in the bottom left. Smart Job Cost Estimator prompts for a save location and creates an Excel workbook containing the report data.
Inside the full job cost report is:
-
The version of Smart Job Cost Estimator that the estimate was performed with
-
The name of the Smart Media that the estimate was performed with
-
The name of the job that was estimated, as well as the thumbnail of the job
-
The page dimensions and page count of the job
-
The currency chosen
-
The total cost of a page
-
The job's total cost, based on ink, substrate, and service costs
The total cost of a page is based on:
-
The ink cost per page, which is based on the ink volumes (in liters) per page and the ink weight (in grams) per page
-
The substrate cost per page
-
The service cost per page
LILO Jobs
In Integrated Mode, importing a job marked as a LILO job in the Smart Print Controller Waiting Queue changes how the estimate is reported:
-
The 'page count' shown when highlighting that job is the sum of the number of non-LILO pages multiplied by the copy count, the requested copies of Lead In pages, and the requested copies of Lead Out pages.
-
When a job cost report is created, the template will include extra data.
The extra data includes:
-
The drop counts for the Lead In and Lead Out pages each
-
The ink volume, weight, and cost for the Lead In and Lead Out Pages only
-
The page count, copy count, and the requested copies for Lead In and Lead Out as they were at the time of the report will be displayed as separate entries.
