Overview
Smart Device Configurator (SDC) is part of the Smart DFE application suite.
SDC is an OEM tool used to define the physical characteristics and configuration data for a target device. This includes settings such as resolution, color support, print bar layout, media handling, RIP support files, RIP configuration templates, Autotune model data, and application branding.
A complete device definition is saved as a Smart Device Configuration file:
.sdc
An .sdc file can be used by companion Smart DFE applications, including Smart Print Controller.
SDC can also create device template files:
.sdt
A device template can be used as a starting point for creating multiple similar device configurations.
Template files contain reusable device setup data, but they do not contain Smart Media definitions. Because of this, .sdt files cannot be used directly in Smart Print Controller. They must be opened in Smart Device Configurator and saved as an .sdc file before use.
